  1. Later cleaning my AR for the first fourth dimension I noticed I had left oily finger prints on the exterior from getting CLP on my hands and handling the rifle. I grabbed a bluish store cloth I had and wiped information technology down. Then I noticed the little blueish fuzz.

What should I use to clean up the outside ?

One of those silicon imbued gun clothes?

  2. I just wipe mine with a gun cloth or old baby diapers I've used for a long time that accept gun oil in them from lots of cleaning. I try and make sure I use rags or cloth that won't leave crap behind like those.
  3. Sometime T shirt works fine. :)
  4. thats what i use.......a piece of an old cotton T-shirt....i go along mine in a freezer pocketbook with several drops of oil.....but pull it out, wipe it down, put it dorsum.....all clean.
  5. The aluminum parts of your AR-xv are anodized, and are protected by their very nature. An oily fingerprint, or a blue fuzz, or a piffling surface dirt won't hurt anything. I simply wipe down the outside aluminum surfaces with a T-shirt rag to remove dust and dirt and call them good.

The steel parts are parkerized on the outside (barrel, front sight base of operations). Parkerizing is a microscopic cobblestone surface on the steel, and it absorbs oil into the spaces between the cobblestones to protect the steel from corrosion. Soak some oil into a rag or patch, and wipe it onto the steel parts in a very low-cal coat to protect them. Once more, get the surface clay off, just a little bit of fuzz or a finger impress won't hurt anything.

boom it off with break cleaner, and so get back in the mud
  8. buy a bunch of onetime style material dipers- afterwards a few launder/dryings (use no fabric softner for best results- makes 'em less absorptive) they come out lint free, and super absorbent. I like them a lot better than Tee Shirt.

When they go loaded upwards/dirty, I throw them to soak in an one-time plastic two gallon jar (Pretzels came in it) with some dishsoap and water, and let them soak, irresolute the h2o occasionally. when information technology gets total, I run it through the laundry with the rag bag.

Last time I bought them was almost iv years ago. they final.

  9. Former T-shirts and diapers, the diapers are the kind before the throw away type. I bought some quondam fashion dish towels some time dorsum likewise, washed a few times they soften upwardly, no lint left behind. Use them until they get grungy and oily, then wash, uncomplicated solution.
  10. I Wipe the externals with a soft textile with a bit of Rem-Oil on information technology. Keeps the black, blacker.
  11. Throw information technology out the window into the yard, then hose it off. BCM sells pinkish fuzz that's better.
  12. Back when information technology mattered (inspections, turn-ins, ect.), I'd apply a shaving castor lightly spritzed with oil/CLP.

Today, I only toss it in the yard to requite information technology that 'salty' character and stick it in the gun rack with the other tools.

  13. hmmmmm I don't run across pink fuzz on "The Chart", you must be incorrect;)
  14. I similar the silicone impregnated cloths. They brand guns expect similar new.
  15. Cheers for the replies. Going to go with the gun cloth and some diaper cloth for the range
